555N, Appalachian Trail, Virginia. 2020.

Flowers bloom beneath growing clouds along northbound mile 555 of the Appalachian Trail in Virginia. The more than 2,000-mile-long trail corridor passes through both public and private land. This scene was composed on the trail as it passes through private farm land, part of a partnership with landowners that provides right-of-way for the long-distance path. Many of these lands are actively used for agricultural and other purposes, and certain recreational uses, such as camping, can be restricted. White blazes, painted on posts, trees and natural features, guide travelers along the route. Continue hiking north or south to travel the entire length of the national recreation trail from Georgia to Maine.
Captured on Ilford FP4 125 4×5 sheet film with a Caltar II-N 210mm lens. Scanned with an Epson Perfection v850 Pro. This scene was composed past the North Fork of the Holston River in Bland County, Virginia on June 20, 2020.
