Quarry Gap Shelters at 1087N, Appalachian Trail, Pennsylvania. 2020.
Considered one of the nicest shelters on the Appalachian Trail, the joined Quarry Gap Shelters are within a day’s hike of the long-distance trail’s midpoint. The Potomac Appalachian Trail Club maintains the well-kept grounds with frequent visits by volunteers who water potted plants and care for the property. Shelters provide safe resting and sleeping options for hikers. Where most value function over form, the Quarry Gap Shelters stand apart.
