Spring water pours out of the Floridan Aquifer, dispersing into the Withlacoochee River at the site of Suwanacoochee Spring and the abandoned logging town of Ellaville, Florida. This image was composed just upstream of the Withlacoochee’s confluence with the historic Suwannee River. A short hike on the Florida Trail takes you here. Continue hiking north or south to travel the entire length of the more than 1,000 mile-long national recreation trail. The area sits preserved within Suwannee River State Park and the adjacent Twin Rivers State Forest, both of which feature numerous hikes, water access and scenic points of interest.
